Miniroos (U6–U12)

The Miniroos program is the FFA program for U6–U12 age groups. It facilitates the development of players through progressive and complementary phases with training and game structures suited to each age group. Full information on the program can be found here:

Miniroos at The Gap FC

The goal of The Gap Football Club Miniroos program is to provide for children of all abilities the opportunity to learn and play football with friends in a safe and fun environment.

We are, amongst other things, a feeder program for the junior and senior football programs and seek to create a life-long love of the game.

We seek to create a balanced playing field for all players and teams to build an environment where all children have an equal chance to enjoy and succeed in the game. This includes experienced players as well as those pulling on boots for the first time.

The Gap Football Club provides its Miniroos players with access to training and game opportunities in order to build friendships, improve their skills, and maximise their time on the ball in a structured environment.

In line with our Juniors and Seniors programs we offer players with a keen interest and willingness to learn the opportunity to develop their skills and create a pathway to high performance and competitive football. This is done through the following pathways.

High-Performance Mixed

  • FQ Academy League North 3 – U10, U11, U12
  • Kangaroos – U8, U9, U10, U11, U12

These teams are selected through a trials process and offer younger players, both male and female, the opportunity to train two to three times per week and play in a dedicated competition with players of more advanced skill sets. The focus of these squads is development with the goal of advancement to High Performance Juniors.

High-Performance Girls

  • U10/11 FQ Academy 1
  • U12/13 FQ Academy 2

Teams in this competition are selected on a trials-only basis. Players in these teams train 3 times per week and play in a dedicated high-performance girls-only competition. The season includes a mix of games and half-day carnivals with other FQ Academy teams.

Competitive Girls

U10–U12 Miniroos

These teams are also selected through a trials process and train twice per week. Players in this squad focus on development and are dedicated to their football and willing to work to improve.

Social – Mixed and Girls

U6–U12

Our standard Miniroos teams play in-house in the U6–7 competition. Games are held on Saturday mornings and there is no grading. From U8 onwards players can choose a mixed team or all-girls competition. Training is once per week and is a good entry level for beginners.

Skills Centre

TGFC offers a number of optional training sessions during the season and over school holidays to help our Miniroos develop further. Visit our Skills Centre page for more information.
