The Gap is proud to announce the signing of exciting young striker and player to watch, Georgia Beaumont, for the 2021 NPLW Senior Women’s squad.
Beaumont started her career with Mitchelton FC, playing in the boys’ competitions from U6–U12s before moving to Moreton Bay United where she represented the club in the QLD NPLW competition.
At 15, Beaumont was selected in the U18 Brisbane Roar NTC/ QAS team where she has been for the past three years. Beaumont is currently a train-on with the Brisbane Roar W-League squad, playing and scoring for the Roar against the NPLW All-Stars last weekend.
Beaumont twice represented QLD at the Youth National Championships, and most notably, represented the Junior Matildas in 2018 and 2019, competing internationally at the Asian Football Confederation qualifiers in Thailand, Laos, and Kyrgyzstan.
No stranger to putting the ball in the back of the net, Beaumont got on the scoresheet in International football on nine occasions during the first and second round of qualifying.
As a Junior Matilda, Beaumont represented Australia on the “Pacific Step-Up tour” in August 2019, which saw the team travel to the Pacific islands for 12 days to promote women’s football in the region and help build relationships both on and off the football pitch. During the tour she competed in games against Tonga, Vanuatu, and the Solomon Islands, accompanied by Australian coaches, referees, and senior players. A documentary film about the tour will be released in the coming months.
“I am excited to be joining the Gators upon completion of my commitments with Brisbane Roar in the W-League,” Beaumont said.
“The club has a strong history in women’s football, and after speaking with the club and Technical Director/Senior Women’s Coach, Mick Gallo, I am eager to help re-establish the strong women’s program so that we as a club are at the forefront of women’s football.”
“Georgia is a huge addition to the club and will bolster our young and hungry squad ready to compete and push each other to the highest levels possible,” Gallo said.
“She is a proven goal scorer, and we help take her game to the next level, as we implement an attacking style of play that will hopefully see her on the end of a lot of goals in 2021.
“With players like Georgia coming into the program, we will do everything possible to help them grow and reach their potential, with the ultimate goal of producing players for the national team as a priority. Having already been identified for future national teams, we look forward to working with Georgia and the QAS Bridging Program under the watchful eye of national team coaches.”
The Gap FC welcomes Georgia to the family and wishes her all the best for the 2021 season.
